THE PROJECT: Create two vintage-style travel posters promoting a setting or location described in classic literature. My posters were inspired by the H.G. Wells novel The War of the Worlds, published in 1898.

POSTER 2: The Woking Gravel Pits

(excerpt, continued)

"Find it he did, soon after dawn, and not far from the sand pits. An enormous hole had been made by the impact of the projectile, and the sand and gravel had been flung violently in every direction over the heath. The heather was on fire eastward, and a thin blue smoke rose against the dawn.

And then he perceived that, very slowly, the circular top of the cylinder was rotating on its body. Something within the cylinder was unscrewing the top! Then, the thing came upon him in a flash."
